Top 5 Ways To Achieve Your New Year's Goals

Posted by Milan Rao on

It's almost 2017. And you know what that means....New Year's resolutions.

We all have our own resolutions..Some we make public, and some we keep private. For me personally, I have certain goals that I feel comfortable sharing with friends and family.  I also have certain goals that I'd rather keep to myself.

The benefit of sharing our goals with others is that it helps keep us accountable. By sharing with others, we become more "committed" to making things happen.

No matter what type of goals you have, there are ways in which we can improve our chances of achieving them in the coming year.

Here are our top 5 ways to maximize your chances of succeeding this 2017:

-Writing down goals is very important. By writing them down, we're able to see our goals with more clarity. Rather than keeping your goals stuck in your mind, putting them onto paper and visually seeing them are very powerful.

-It's simply not enough to write down a goal, review it once, and put it away forever. You must revisit your goals each day and remind yourself of the path you're taking. When you revisit your goals each day, you're forced to focus on taking the actions that will get you closer towards your goals.

-Grab a friend who also has similar goes as you. Let's say you and a friend both have a goal of losing 5 pounds this month. Both of you can keep each other accountable and set goals and milestones for each other.

You can even setup consequences if one of you don't do what you say you're going to do. "If you miss a cardio workout, you have to eat 10 cookies". While eating 10 cookies sounds amazing, it's really not if you're trying to get closer to your weight loss goals!

-It's been shown time and time again that SMART goals are the most effective. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-sensitive. If you goal can satisfy all of these criteria, then you're doing it right.

-Studies have shown that the act of visualization has tremendous benefits for achieving goals. Let's say you'd like to buy a dream car. Let's use a Tesla as an example. Close your eyes and visualize yourself having the car. Notice how the car feels, sounds, and looks. Notice the way you feel as you drive off in your new car. Visualize yourself being happy and feeling good.

If you can visualize this every day, your brain will automatically give you the tools and insights you need to get closer to that goal.

There you go. Those are our top 5 methods for achieving any new goal this 2017. While there are many other techniques you can use, we felt that these 5 were some of the most powerful.

What is YOUR main goal this year? At Reborn Labs, our goal is to serve 100,000 customers and build a school in Africa by the end of the year.
